Albert Watson Photography Exhibition @ Kahmann Gallery Amsterdam

"Next week Thursday, May 20th, Kahmann Gallery presents the exhibition ‘I Observe’, by world famous photographer Albert Watson. A selection of 30 black & white photographs from his series of works, will be shown.

Born in 1942 in Edingburgh, the Scottish native received his degree in graphic design and film before he moved to the United States. Even though he wasn’t trained as a photographer, it was there that he became one and started doing various kinds of assignments.

With an interest in the fabulous, famed and curious, Watson has in the past four decades, managed to swirl these themes up in a peculiar way: film director Alfred Hitchcock holding a 25 pound plucked goose; singer songwriter Mick Jagger portrayed as a leopard; and supermodel Kate Moss portrayed in torn veil, are just a few examples of his oeuvre. His signature is his way of lighting his subjects, which creates a graphic intensity and almost meditative atmosphere.

Watson has done more than 250 covers for Vogue Magazine and over 40 covers for Rolling Stone Magazine. He has won numerous prizes and is named one of the 20 most influential photographers of all time by Photo District News."
